The primary purpose of speech-in-noise.eu (accessible from https://speech-in-noise.eu and subdomains) is to facilitate the organisation of the Speech in Noise Workshop (SPIN). We, the operators of the website, set the privacy of our visitors/users as one of our main priorities. This Privacy Policy document describes the types of information that is collected and recorded by speech-in-noise.eu and how we use it.

If you have additional questions or require more information about our Privacy Policy, do not hesitate to contact us at info@speech-in-noise.eu.

We are a Data Controller of your information in the sense of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

What data do we collect?

The users of this website are divided into three categories, and the data we collect depends on this category.

Visitor

If you casually visit our website, we do not collect any data, and we do not use cookies (although third-party providers for some of the resources used on this website may use cookies).

Authors and Attendees

Authors are visitors who submit an abstract to SPIN. Attendees are visitors who register to attend the workshop. For these users, we collect the following data:

Note that users can provide these data on behalf of the data subject (e.g. filling the form on behalf of co-authors, or registering attendance on behalf of the attendee). When this is the case, the user must ensure they have obtained appropriate permission from the data subject.

Administrators

Administrators of this website are the organisation committee of the workshop. We collect information necessary to the operation of the tasks of this committee, including:

How do we collect your data?

You directly provide speech-in-noise.eu with the data we collect (except for IP addresses). We collect and process data when you:

As an Author or an Attendee, when you fill in a form, we protect those forms from bots using a CAPTCHA, and then use session cookies to identify you as human during the session. The cookie is deleted when you close your browser or when the session expires.

We will also receive data collected by third-party websites we may use for the purpose of organising the workshop. For instance, registration may happen through a ticketing service mandated by the SPIN organisers, and that will then share the collected data with us.

How will we use your data?

We use your data for the only purpose of organising the SPIN workshop. This entails:

Note that when, as an Author, you submit an abstract to SPIN, you accept that the abstract and all relevant information will be made public and will be distributed under the CC0 Public Domain license.

We use emailing providers to increase the deliverability of our emails, and therefore share your name and email with these providers in order to facilitate our email communication. A Data Processing Agreement is established with these providers.

We may be sharing your information with local or organising institutions for the sake of permitting access to the workshop.

We are not sharing your information with other third-parties.

How do we store your data?

Your data is stored in France, in databases with restricted access to the sole operators of this website.

We will keep the data you submit as an Author indefinitely. We will keep the data provided as an Attendee for 10 years. Once this time period has expired, we will anonymise your data by replacing all identification information with irreversible cryptographic hash versions for another 5 years. After this period of 5 years, the Attendee information will simply be deleted permanently from our database.

Marketing

For the purpose of informing Authors and Attendees about future editions of the workshop, we would like to send you a couple of yearly emails.

You can opt-out of this yearly mailing by clicking on the unsubscribe button present in these emails or by contacting us.
